When creating art I often feel a conflict between my preference to plan artworks out so that they meet my quality standards and the need to use art as a form of therapy by playing with my materials. This piece is a representation of that because I used both methods. There are times that the planning process is representing the violence when it is hindering me from progressing, and there are times when the chaos of following my intuition appears like a violent process to the outsider. The marks in blue ink and the application was planned and methodical. The marks in maroom ink and the application was impulsive and unplanned. The swirls in black ink and the application were calm and calculated, while scratches were made on a whim.
