DEPLOYABLE PAVILION
Spring 2018, Negar Kalantar
In collaboration with Byron Campos, Jessica Stark, and William Hachtman, our pavilion emphasizes the importance of the experience and means of transportation for ease of re-use. A unique structure that highlights the interaction between visitors, between the visitor and the environment, and between the visitor and the structure itself; while achieving an extremely compactable form. The overall shape of the deployed pavilion is one similar to that of a Guinness glass; always changing shape from top to bottom. We decided to develop this form with the visitor in mind. Passing from one end to the other brings the visitor between space both small and wide, making it feel like a journey through these changing spaces. Luckily to create this shape and experience only involved a few various parts and methods, and most importantly, gave us an extremely portable and compactable pavilion.
